My Favorite Reno Stores

In previous posts I have talked a lot about my favorite locally owned stores, so today I am going to share some of my favorite non-locally owned stores with you. I love supporting the Mom-and-Pop businesses of Reno whenever I get the opportunity, but every once in a while I have to fulfill my need for a bigger selection and cheaper prices.  That’s where stores like Forever 21 and BCBG come into play. These stores fill my closet with trendy items and basics that don’t break the bank.

Forever 21

Forever 21 is known for its knock-off versions of designer items and making trends affordable. Unfortunately where the affordability is plentiful, the quality is usually lacking. I tend to shop at Forever for trendy items that I am not worried about ruining and accessories. I get the most out of the items that I buy by washing them by hand or dry cleaning them.

BCBG Final Cut

Whenever I have a special occasion that requires a new dress, BCBG Final Cut is always the first store I visit. The store is always widely stocked with a variety of dresses, often starting at $19. The items for sale at Final Cut are final sale only, so make sure you try everything on before leaving the store.

Gap, Inc.

Gap always has and always will be one of my favorite corporations; I love each of its signature clothing entities: Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic. Here in Reno we not only have access to all three stores, but the factory versions of each of the three as well. I love Banana for work attire, Gap for denim and Old Navy for the basics like t-shirts and tank tops. While Banana Republic can be a bit on the pricey side, Gap and Old Navy are very budget friendly.

Summer Short Guide

I am not a huge fan of shorts, but when you live in a city where the summer temps reach the hundreds, they become a necessity. Finding the right pair of shorts for your body has everything to do with length. I have created this guide as a reference point for finding the right pair for your frame.

Short Shorts

Summer Short Guide

Gap | 1969 Summer Cut-Offs | $49.95

Short shorts look best on shorter women because they elongate short legs. That’s not to say they can’t look good on other statures too, they are just the most flattering on petite women. When wearing short shorts it is important to make sure that they are not too short…When it comes to appropriateness there is a very fine line.

Pop of Color

Gap | Sunkissed Shorts | $39.95

Colored shorts are a great way to liven up your summer wardrobe. This pair in particular is a good casual length and a great summer color. Pops of neon are very on trend and look great against a fresh summer tan.

Mid-Length Shorts

Gap | Striped Boyfriend Roll-Up Shorts | $44.95

My favorite length shorts are mid-length. They flatter all body types and when styled appropriately can even be suitable for the office. I really love this pair from the Gap. The stripes are stylish and they provide coverage in all the right places.

Boyfriend Shorts

J Brand | Nash Boyfriend Shorts | $188.00

I have a weakness for distressed denim. I am obsessed with this pair of shorts because they are a flattering length and feature a great amount of detail. Pull this pair on with a slub tee and some flip flops for an easy and stylish look.
